Professor Ole Wanscher 100 years

Ole Wanscher, Professor, Architect (16/9 1903 - 27/12 1985).
Professor of architecture (with the art of furniture making as his speciality) at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1955-73. A member of the Fellows of the Royal Academy 1963-68 and of the Academy 1968.
Ole Wanscher worked for Kaare Klint from 1924 to 1927 and then set up as an independent architect specialising in furniture design. 
Through his many years of co-operation with master joiner A.J. Iversen, Ole Wanscher developed a number of exclusive types of furniture which mark highlights in Danish furniture making.
From the 1950s and onwards Ole Wanscher worked with P. Jeppesens Møbelfabrik A/S. This co-operation continued after Wanscher's death and resulted in a number of famous models such as the Rungstedlund line, the PJ-149 Colonial Chair, the PJ-112 and many other models. Today Ole Wanscher's models are made by P.J. Furniture A/S.

"The antiques of the future"

On the occasion of the centenary of Professor Ole Wanscher's birth, P.J. Furniture A/S will manufacture three of the most famous and characteristic models in rosewood in a limited number. 150 PJ-149/1 Colonial Chairs, 100 PJ-2000 Egyptian Stools and 50 PJ-58 T-Chairs will be made. All chairs will be supplied with numbered silver plates carrying the name of Ole Wanscher. The chairs will be made with the most exclusive vegetable leather that is available in nature, black and Indian red. 
These "birthday models", which are obvious items for connoisseurs and collectors of Danish furniture, will be offered for sale through leading furniture houses all over the world.
