| "Egyptian Stool" Seen in a broader historical perspective, the Egyptian folding chair appears as a raised seat in its own right. The resemblance with the Roman ”sella curulis” in the characteristic use as one of the highest symbols of power through seven to eight hundred years is indeed extremely remarkable. One of the most important characteristics of the Egyp- tian folding chair is also its function as the seat of action, i.e. the leader's seat.
